400 vs 30

Always funny to me, but if anyone is needing isk. Just go find a class 2 Wormhole. Sleepers... that is all you need. I spent 3 hours mining 2 loads of veldspar to make 35 mill. My friend spent 3 hours in a class 2 wormhole. He made 400 mil. That is pretty sweet to me.

Biggest reason I havent jumped on the bandwagon is the amount of time and energy I put into the game. I am very casual, and ratting sleepers while watching tv and not really pay attention to the scanner is not something I willing to try.

But here is to the wormholeers!!!

(cheers)!!!

Hello C8, Goodbye C8

I reported the bug that let me just go one time vice the required three for Cardassian missions.

And then check 10 more times... yep still there... no exploiting, just verifing it is still there ;)

I see they have a patch tomorrow. My guess is that it will go away then, but the LCARS will still be buggy.

And yet another bug ( this one helps though )

Ever sleep so long your brain gets fried?  Eyes ache, neck aches.... Yeah it's one of those days...

Kept trying to get onto STO last night. I would get to the loading screen and it would time out. This kept up for about an hour. I thought about eve but decided to just head to bed early.

This morning I updated my alts skills, then jumped on to STO while I watch the season finalle of Caprica. After one set it told me I was finished with the mission ( vice the 3 needed) so this is probably a bug. But soooo many people are burned out on patrols, that I am not sure if Cryptic knows about it.

Will try again tonight if I get a chance. That will make 2 nasty bugs. One, you no longer get LCARS help spotting ships in front of you. Two, all you need to do is complete 1/3 of a mission to get credit for it.

Wonder which one they are going to fix, and which one they are going to leave?

Yeah I thought so too.

Bug hunter

The kill 5 federation wrecks while Borg shoot at you mission, has to be bugged.  I am 7 for 7 on the server stopping to respond on me in roughly the same spot.  Reported the bug.

Finally got an away mission. Kill 5 sets of Undine. On the 3rd set I died so I just sat there waiting for my bridge offiers to drop ( they still have noob gear on). Lo and behold they killed them all without dieing. That medical officer must be really tired.

After they rez'd me, I just sent them in and tried to watch the fun. But the mobs would still run half the distance to me.

Made C7 at the end of the mission.

Overall it was a nice change of pace, but exploration missions are slower on leveling then patrolling. Mainly due to having to run all over the map to tried to find your next victim. Vs the enemy clustered fairly tight in one location.

I think I am going to go 50/50 on patrol/exploration for this level.

209 subscribers

Yeah I am still amazed.

Trying to go threw some of the history. Looks like my video is no a big draw. The CSM minutes are though.

Not much I can think of right now to say. I am just floored that people subscribe to a non commentary podcast.

Season 1

Well the first upgrade to STO was interesting.

There is still a small klingon population.  Makes it easier to run around on.

They changed to transportation beam to something more klingon.

And they added when you have the maximum number of ships you can own. Which I had but did not know that I hit the limit.

Funny, but I  had to redo the promotion to Captain again. Not difficult, just weird that they threw it in there.

Was given an off duty clothing slot. But they gave no new options on clothing. That means I just changed colors and my sash.

Upgraded my personal armor and weapons. Just incase I actually beam to down to a planet.

The bridge is intresting,  my bridge officers are now at their stations along with a few others that I didn't want. Atleast there is no more federation people working on my bridge.

So with all the new star clusters to go see and areas to explore - what do I decide to do......  Go back and finish the cardassians grind. It's my OCD, but I hate leaving quests half done. The good news there is that I had 2/3rds left to do but after 1 set, it said I was completed. I didn't complain.

Jumped onto a star cluster, lots of max characters out there. First off : To destroy 5 federation wrecks, but they are guarded by the Borg. I was 3/5 done when the game locked up. On my second go around it was : to destroy 6 sets of federation vessels. Note : the battleships are no longer weaken like patrol missions. This lead to some nasty fights. Still I got that one done, and I am close to C7 now. Great change of pace.

  2 bugs I reported :
1) if you look at your rank it used to tell you how many skill points you needed to advance. Now it says 0.

 2) the LCARS no longer shows for any vessel that is in front of you. Only the ones on the side.  Man I hope this is a bug and not the way they want it.

They finally like me :)

Came on line a few days ago and still had no standings.

Decided to run a mission with the alt and have the main logged in. 1 mission turned into a 5 mission story arc - but there was no combat.

Next day, ding!! Factions pop up. Spent the next hour setting up the small POS and getting everything on line. 1 orca load of ice seems to give me roughly 12 days worth of fuel. The scorpion material research is 28 days for 12 points. And I want roughly 35.

It all boils down to mining. Luckily that is my past time. I didn't get a lot of time yesterday. But i watch 1/2 of Tron and got 1/2 of an Orca full of ice. Will probably spend next week mining the ice then move on to other things.

No war decs so far - that is good news.

Head 'em up and Move 'em out

Quapla' !!!

Made captain 6 a couple of days ago. And had another 2 days of Blood of Khaless not bothering to talk to me. But yesterday, I did get a grunt to pop up in the welcome center. He was suprised at the way BoK was greeting new members.

Now this next part is what struck me, he mentioned that BoK was turning away from STO and looking to a new mmo coming out called Earth Rise. Seems they had high hopes for Star Trek, but the Klingon delivery has just been horrible.

I went to look at Jupiter Invasion Force - the Klingon side of Jupiter Broadcasting. And while I saw 1 article about forming it. It doesn't appear again. My concern with JIF is that it is the red head step child of Jupiter Fleet and not taken seriously. Under funded and under used, more like a place they can dress up and fly birds of prey for a few minutes then anything long term.

This next expansion coming out better help. Cause believe it or not, people are leaving STO in droves.

You wanna do what?!? HAHAHA

Chris is awesome
Chris is awesome
Chris is awesome

   So,
Been looking around for green screen material. While there is information out there and some you tube videos. It is not easy to get a handle on price ranges.

I went out and reviewed Jupiter broadcasting to see if they had any tips, and all I saw was a $700 camcorder. But they do have a contact number. After stuttering about, I ask them thier setup. A few hours later - that awesome chris sent me a texted with 4 videos he had created.

And boy was I out of my league. Way, way out. I was wanting to stay around $300 total for a small setup. Now I see that will not even get me in the door.
   $700 for camera
$999 for green screen back drop
    $200 for 2 difusing lights
$500 for basic video editing software
    $100 for microphone
    $??? For sound mixer
    $700 for HD converter box
$$$$$ for computer to run it

Next, depression set in. 2 dev blogs popped up and I just wanted to walk away. But I read/edited them outloud to put my wife asleep.

Something happen to the editing and the video is off. Just noticed it again on my second go around.

The jist of this story is - I doubt very seriously I will ever get my anchorman podcast off the ground.

Still, there was a $150 software bundle with a cheap green screen. $100 for a webcam.  $50 for a mic. That might be doable. Just to see how it looks. Nothing of quality. Just experimental.

The dream lives on.

Eve, STO, and Podcasting conumdrums

Eve : And yet still no change in my new corps standing. I do like the logo though. I went through a few interations on it. But now I have a tendency to stare into the flames for a second or two.

I know I'm going to breakdown and faction level my alt.   But I just don't wanna do it.....(big whine) Right now I am setting him up for research development management. Then if I don't get too distracted remote science research

STO : still trying to figure out how to get into Blood of Khaless. I went through another 1/3 set of cardassians last night. Also got onto ventirlo again. This time I tried to convo an elder.

Note : this is what their website says to do. Also says to do this when you log onto vent.

After i finished my fighting, he never responded. So I thanked for his time and tried the only other elder that I saw. I figured I would have better luck since I can see his speaker flash every so often as he speaks. In the middle of my opening statement to him - on the private convo - he turns on his away sign. That made me mad. I stayed for about about 10 more minutes then log off and went on to an eve mining op.

Podcast : spent a good portion of the day yesterday looking for green screen software and camera. I found what looks like a nice setup for software. The catch is they wanted $500 for it. And I'm not sure this is all just an ADD momment. They had a free trial program to try and it is slow on my computer plus not as user friendly as the other video editor. But it does have alot more featured and video help.

Still thinking about a video Eve newscaster. With some funny characters. On the field reporting. Etc. I have found that while it might be great on paper (ie my head). When you include the editing time. It becomes a whole lot less fun.

Case in point. I want to make a CGI movie on the Star Frontiers module Dramune Run. I downloaded Blender 3D for it, and I have no doubt that it will do an awesome job. But I spent 2 weeks trying to draw 1/2 a spaceship that I had a picture overlayed to.  And it was very frustrating. I really just need a class or 2 to learn.

So while I ramble on of my dreams. This is probably all for naught.

100 subscribers !?!?!?!

Holy bananas!!!!!!

There are a 100+ insominiacs out there wanting to listen to a dev blog.

That is plain wow.

The video aspect is intresting. I finished up the last dev blog last night and sent it on it's merry way.

I wonder if I can change the name from reading of dev blog to reading of articles.  I am thinking about trying to incorporate 10 ton hammer and eve tribune into my Vlog as well.

I am also thinking about buying a camera and just making a news anchor style Vlog. Maybe buy a rubber Klingon mask for STO.  This will probably not happen  - due to money. And the fact that I am not a girl. So who cares about watching a fat white guy read bed time articles. But it is something I am kicking around.

Maybe I will bring out a fish and talk about the providence war ala Glen Beck...

-Jason

Welcome to the party. Now can I get directions?

Checked out Blood of Kahless's website, they had a 6 step process to join their fleet. It mainly involved becoming a guild (somthing) member. At one point they ask what do you want from the fleet, what can you offer, and tell us a little bit about yourself.

I wonder if I should have worn a tie.

I talked about being casual, and pve focused. Figured I'll throw in this site in case they are insominiacs.

Got home and checked mail with no luck.  Signed onto STO and nothing there. Looked around LORE and figured out how to quit that guild. Went back to BoK website and look -  I have been accepted. Yeah !!

Just need to sign on to vent. Which I had already downloaded  but never used. After much stumbling around I log in to vent as the wrong character.  Oops. Went back to vent as my STO guy and ...

Nothing.

Couldn't  move out of the welcome area. Waited for an Elder, with no luck. So I finished up my 1/3 set for the night and log out.

Now I'm in a guild without joining it.  Ahhh technology.

It's lonely by yourself

I'm on day 5 without change to my Corp standing.  My alts mining crystals burned out. I do have 98 left. But they were 16 jumps out.

Not paying enough attention, I decided to trade my Probe to my alt and run it out. The Probe is a quick little ship with a nice cargo hold for it's size.    It's my main choice due to it's speed. When I get to the crystals I find out that I can only grab 12.

So I will have to have another run next month or so for the rest. Until then, it will last me for a bit.

I have been waffling on what to do with my alt - skill wise. But now I do think I am going to force myself to have it become my research arm. I simply miss having a chance to hang out with RL friends.

-Jason

Blood vs. LORE

Moved on up to Captain 5.  Cryptic says that the expansion should be released soon. They have 2 trailers out for it, I just hope they expain how to get to a Star Cluster.

I have not seen anyone from my House on since the day I joined them. And it also looks like the high end missions will be all group based. So I am debating wether to try to apply for Blood of Khaless or not. Just to find a large guild to work with.

Veldspar blues

I guess a catch phrase I have developed will be " I wonder if anyone at CCP likes to mine".

With trit prices rising, it occured to me just a momment ago that I cannot think of any other time that CCP has lowered an item by spawning more.

For T2 materials they introduced alchemy.  Hmm, now that I think about it. They did say Moon Goo was also getting the boot.  But I wonder how many people mine moons Vs. mine asteroids. Well that and moon mining is self contained (aka macroing). Just top off fuel and take products. Mining is far from telling a ship to mine and coming back next week to pick up Veldspar.

And speaking of Veldspar, I formed my Corp 3 days ago - and I am still waiting on the standings to reset.  Billy was right, I should have just gone to Solitude in a blockade runner and research my BPOs their. The best solution would be to get my Alts faction up to 7.0 unmodified. But that is alot of grinding. And if my main helps out I am worried that I will go KOS to Caldari and Amarr.

If anyone reads this, hope you have a great and safe weekend.

And another thing...

Small rant today.

   Made Captain - 4 yesterday.

While I do enjoy watching STOked at jupiterbrodcasting.com. I gotta say I wanna strangle Chris half the time. Maybe he is an eternal optimist. But the reivews of STO have been right so far.

Star Trek Online is not a richly rewarding game. My guess is, if Chris did play pve as a Klingon, he would still get up there and tell you how wonderful of a game it is.

It got bad enough, that it's the first time in my life I rage quit the forums.

If you want to play federation, then there might be some benefit from the game. But as a klingon, it is all about the grind.

Still, there is supposed to be exploration in this next expansion. It's just that I am not a huge cryptic fan after City of Heroes. And so far they have not done anything to change my mind.

But I do recommend watching Jupiterbroadcasting.com.  Just bring some asprin when you face plant into the desk - as Chris defends the farce.

Yes Jermey and Brian are also fanboys,  but they will atleast tell the whole story.

Its sad to say goodbye...

I started what will probably be a month long journey on my podcasts... maybe 6 months. More then 20 years ago( sigh, was it that long ago....). A friend of mine named Kevin made a silly interview with music.

What he did was on one recorder he would as a question. The he would select a small piece of music to answer it.

such as:

Interviewer "So is there anything else you want to say"

Music(Devil went down to Georgia) "I told you once, you son of a b*****. I'm the best that ever been"

I probably remember it due to the cuss word. But over all it was halarious and good fun.

This had me thinking about doing something similiar with a few podcasts. So that is what I am doing right now. I have 2 episodes from Planet Risk, Podded, and Mission Collide. All I have right now is just the intro to each other. Honestly I dont have it all worked out. I am hoping to relisten to them and get some inspiration. The good news is I dont have a deadline. Will probably keep this as straight audio, since it will be obvious that it is a splice job.

Sad news, I am leaving my RL friends in Dark Lure Corp. I have gotten all the preperations for a small mobile lab. But I am the only one with the Gallente faction high enough. So it is off I go back to my personal corp my alt has been holding down.

My hand at planetary interaction

I decided to actually use the video I made and load SiSi onto my computer.
The video was pretty straightforward, but the last line about ip address was a little iffy. Might need to go back and smooth it out some.

Tried my hand at plantary interaction, but before that i bought my self a Widow :). Then I promptly confirmed what everyone else knew. You cannot fit a covert op cloaking device on a 500 million isk Black Op ship.  What kind of broken logic is that ?!?

The nice thing about Sisi was that I had my system all to myself. Still when I got to the planet I enable the improve cloak. Since this is not STO, and I assume your ship does not disappear when you got to planet mode.  (note: I see alot of kills coming from people not remembering to enable cloak).

The interface was fairly simple. I'm not sure what the problem was, but I couldn't seem to get my factories to produce. About that time is was dinner time.

After dinner, I was hungry for some rocks (pun intended). Made one ocra load to market (after refining) and thought I had enough to get my mobile lab. With the lab, I can research my Scorpion BPO to help with materials. Well as long as I don't get war dec'd
Will have to quit the Corp for that. And that bites. But I'm the only one with enough faction standing for 0.7 space.

All did not goes as plan though.  I miss calculated by about..,,, oh 50%. So more mining ops, and we will be good to go. There a few shows I wanna watch anyways :)

New Caprica City

There are aspects of the TV show "Caprica" that I don't care for. But there are quite a few storylines that keep me coming back.

One in particular is New Cap City.  The first time I am introduced to the virtual game - the girl asked "how do you beat the game?" To which the geek answered "no one knows"

  Right there I knew that
A: it was probably foreshadowing a matrix like architect
B: the writers have never played an MMORPG in their life.

Over 10 years ago when I started Everquest, my girlfriend at the time wanted to know when I would beat the game. I tried to tell her that it would never happen. You can grow bored, but there was always something to do on the horizon.

Then Caprica started talking about the death penalty. When you die - you are booted from the game. Not to return ever. New Cap is a harsh game, complete anarchy with people doing whatever they want.

The only game I know that was similiar was a 2 month server on Everquest. In that EQ. Everytime you died you were reset to a noob. Level 1 with no non-noob gear. You lost everything. And it was open PvP. There was some prize at the end of the time for the highest character. I made it to level 3.

Still it is an intresting idea with New Cap. A free game that let's you do anything. But how would you stop an alt?  Block IP addresses, and credit card accounts. Well I just said free, but if you charged a one time fee requiring a credit card you could stop anyone undering 18 from playing ( I said you could do anything in the game). And you would force people to jump through hoops to get another account. Plus multiple cards from a person might have the same address. And you could block it that way.

Picture Eve where when you die you don't come back. It would make playing a bit more intresting.

This is just a random thought I've been kicking around for 2 or 3 weeks
-Jason

Memory hog

I bit off more than I can chew.

Finished up the CSM minutes, and threw together some videos. All together it was 178 Megs. I have only a little over 200 left on Podbean and it's not even halfway threw the month. The worse part is that I don't want to go back to straight audio.

And speaking of Vlogs. Yesterday I hit 25 subscribers.  I was amazed at 7, I am dumbfounded at 25. This morning I'm up to 30. For someone who just reads the script and has no jokes. That is pretty amazing.

Maybe they will go away in the second half as I ran out of room to post.

Maybe I need to think about getting a domain to upload to. See how much it will cost.

Man I hate to keep bugging Kirith with questions. I might try Darth Hater.

Either way i am going to be memory heavy. Still it is fun to see my work.

Wahoo!!  I'm all caught up on my podcasts now.

6 hours of work for 10 minutes of show

When Fly Reckless with Chad came out and he requested audio submissions, I responded with reading the Tyrannis dev blog.  Well I downloaded Audacity then took the plunge.

I believe it was Tyrannis that had the graphs. Or pictures, and I tried to describe them. I kept thinking it would be great if you could see them. I keep thinking about the quarterly economic report - that has lots of pictures and charts.

From doing that I went a step further and decided to try podcasting. Since it's just me and I am not privy to special knowledge about anything, I decided to just pick up on the dev blogs.

Well I am not really wanting just an audio blog. I want a video blog. So during work :) I looked around the web and found a free ap. Got home - downloaded it, and turned out to be horrible. I spent another hour surfing and found a basic package that  I wanted for free.

I did a test going cradle (audacity) to grave (watching it on my iPhone). And it worked like a charm. It even ran movies.

 next baby step

I created the intro clip - and man it is awesome. The rest might suck, but that clip is great. Went ahead and made the ending also. It is good, but not like the intro.

I am 2 recordings behind on my podcast so I went ahead an audacitied the voice of install of singularity. Now like all things I made some design mistakes that I have learned from. But it took me roughly 6 hours to record, edit, and load 10 minutes worth of podcast. Ouch!!

This morning I started the last podcast I promised myself. The unedited voice is 35 minutes long and I still have roughly 20 minutes left. My guess is that it will be 35 to 40 minutes long when I am done.

After that who knows, but atleast it has video now.

This morning I went to work and I thought I synced my phone up with iTunes. But my video is not here. Hope that doesn't mean it is non-loadable like STOked is.

A.D.D. + Rage Quit = a good mining op

Hehe. I had alot of things on my mind. Now that I am actually writing, I can't think of any.

First off, congrats to Kirith and Ms. Kirith on a healthy #3. Glad to hear everyone is doing well.

Did I ever mention my A.D.D.?  Was diagnoised with one as a child. I find that I overcompensate often and only do one thing at a time. But there are ALOT of unfinished projects at home that say differently.

That being said, this is a game blog mainly - so I  did some research on the U'K being NRDS. Well I googled trying to find a list of NRDS systems. I ended up on the eve online forums. A wealth of misinformation!  It seems to me that no one has a real clue as to what Upper Management wants out of providence. But it does put me in a quandry of firing on potential Carebear neutral people ( I can't say friendly ).

At the same time, I finally got around to listening to Unknown Eve podcast. Really good in my opinion. The CEO is trying to get the others involved in the podcast, but so far with little effect.  They kind of have a Darth Hater feel to it with 3 or 4 people on. Except everyone at DH wants to talk. Unkown Eve is still finding itself. They are wormhole pirates. Which I do not care for, but they will talk about failures of them or thier victims with thoughtfulness. Not at all mean about it, which I am grateful for.

Wow that was a tangent. Getting back onto my original thought. Listening to Unknown Eve sparked me to think about day trips into WH class 1 again.

That meant parking my bomber in Amarr space, and jumping back home.

Grabbed my covert scanning ship and started fumbling around. Why yes I have watch CCPs video. And yes I have watched 3 other scanning videos. Skills? Check! Astro at 5 the other 3 skills at 3 ( or 2 can't remember ). Covert ops - check. So it should be a sinch right?  Everyone talks like it is about 30 seconds and your done. For me it was more like 15 minutes. I was starting to worry since I was getting down to the lowest resolution.

I warp to the Wormhole entrance and it is not a K162. I was suprised, and since I'm in a cloaky thing I went on through. Wahoo no gate camp. Directional scanner showed moons ( a bunch ) and planets but no tower. Threw the probe out and no 100% hits. Just 6 scanables. Sigh.

This is when my RL friend pops up a convo to say hi. He was been a mission runner, but mainly a 0.0 dweller working for various corps. I thought he had written off Eve, but he assured me he was committed up to the end of April.

He was bored and I complained about the WH I just found. (yep tears and all ) Being the friend that he is, he decided to come over and help scan. Did I mention my abilty to scan?  Mine - not my character. But he needed to make a run to Jita. -shudders-  Lots of gankers around Jita. He grabs a few secure containers and heads on out. I went back to my comfort zone.  Yep a mining op with 2 characters on 1 computer.  If I stop writing, you know when my laptop finally says NO.

Hour later he finishes up his Jita run (750 mil,  he is buying dinner ). And heads to my " quiet neck of the woods ". Next words are Suicide Gank.  They popped him.  But the bastards got secure cans. - how do you like them apples! Needless to say he was a little distraught. I think it was in Balle. Which is right next to me. But Balle is next door to a very active and large pirate faction. To top it all off he was having a rough week in real life.

So I guess the moral to this story is if you are getting hammer in real life. Don't think Eve will care. It is a heartless world out there.

Last note. Next day he sent me a text appologizing for the rage quit. Seems to me that it was justifiable. Well quitting for the night atleast.  Some nights it's better to quit when your behind.

If you ever need a rock to eat ******, look me up. Nothing helps get a PvP'r in the mood to kill something then a mining op in high sec. :)

The truth shall set you free

It didn't take much, but I am confused. Last night I got to Kari and parked 80 KM on top of the gate to 0.0. This morning I log in and saw little traffic.

With my house preoccupied I decided to take the plunge. There was a gate camp on the other side, it consisted of 2 bubbles and 1 light interdictor. But I still had my stomach in my throat. I didn't warp away. What I chose to do was cloak and maximum burn in a isolated direction ( meaning there was nothing to warp to). That is when the 'dictor started closing in. I chose a different direction. What made my heart stop was when he went from 16 KM to 9,950 in a blink.  I changed again and in another second he was 19 km. I don't know how close death I got, but it seemed like a computer glitch to me.

Anyway, after that it was clear to 161 KM.  Bookmarked the location to provide me with an observation post, but also I can warp to 0 on the gate from there. Now I sat there and looked over local.

At this point in need to appologize to the people of Denmark. I did not recognize your flag. But now I know.

While waiting and figuring out how to warp to the other gate. I struck up a small conversation with the single U'K pilot.

So this my confusion;  I thought CVA was the only NRDS place around. But the U'K pilot mentioned that they are normally NRDS. Just not in this system ( I assume do to the seige). Then he left.

So now I am lost on how to verify this information. If it is true then that chages everything for me. I was going to Providence to protect the carebears right to live. If everyone is NBSI, then people like me become barred from 0.0. If CVA and U'K are both NRDS - then the roleplaying aspect of slavery comes into play. I would much prefer to defend carebears and slaves right to be free.

The power of LORE

I have been giving Eve alot of time. That meant I was behind on my STO work. With the girls tonight wanting to watch Running Wild movie with Brooke Shields. That left me free to work on grinding Cardassians.

As soon as I log in though, I get a fleet invite. We are disorganzed, and chaotic. I felt like LeRoy Jenkins about every fight. Kept asking for Primary, and no response. But over all it was fun. More fun than grinding. So what do you know, being part of a team is more fun then soloing. Who would have Thunk IT.

He invited me to his guild (called houses in STO). It is named LORE, the only requirement is that my biography has to have the character Lore in it. For those not caught up on Star Trek mythology, Lore is the brother to Data. He is full of emotion and is very dangerous.

Basically, Lore broke my character out of the collective and now I fight for Lore. The head honcho liked it. I thought it was cheesy. So my main requirement is done.

Special thanks to:
shi'tok - leader of LORE
stopbit - he is a zerger
shadowpoet - he kept trying to heal me... man that was a chore
Ibkeffer - congrats on your new ship.

Darwin award

"Hahaha. You clumsy pilot."
                        - my nav com

Last night I had the 3 grandkids while my wife went out to relieve some stress. After dinner, I herded them into the living room and threw in the  Barnyard movie.

Since I was missing the Pyrite component of bombs. I also made a mining op while watching the movie.  Filled up the cargo hold and ore hold on the Orca. It was enough to make the bombs.

After the movie it was the girls bedtime.  Came back and made my bombs.    Only took 8 minutes. At that point is when my brain went south.

I grabbed my bombs flew to the main hub and got in my bomber. Next I put the 3 bomb launchers on the manticore.   And tried again, and again. The error message was pretty long so it took me a few tries to read the Doh! part. So with 1 bomb launcher, 4 bombs, 15 torps with launcher, afterburner, webifier, and 2 warp stabs. + covert cloak; off I went 21 jumps to Kari. Got about halfway there and realized it was time for bed.

On the way to work, sweating the massive gate camp that I expect to be there, it hit me that even though I made another level in cloning. I never bought one. So I am flying to my doom with a full implanted clone.

That right Mr .Darwin, I would like my award now.  It's back to the drawing board and cloning up.

That will help me anyway, I have been debating on the torpedos and webifier anyway. With the range hit I get from 2 warp stabs, all it would really mean is that I will lose them without firing a shot when my ship blows up ( my bet is I don't make out of the gate camp )

Is this mike on?

Wahoo!!!!

I have finally figured out the iTunes podcasting. Which is really funny to me since there are people for whom it comes naturally to.

I decided to go the free software route, since I have no idea what I am doing. I am wanting to see how the recording, editing, uploading, managing, and iTunes work before I sink my poor wallet even deeper into the barrel.

I have 3 tracks now. I also made the decision to just read the dev blogs. There was a guy last fall who did it for a bit.  Then he just disappeared. The podcast note said he was just waiting for iTunes to take him off their list. I get some experience with podcasting, maybe be helpful to 1 lost soul out there, and have a little fun in the mean time.

I am still learning though. The first 2 were just simple recordings. This last one i started to weave in music. I can tell this going to be a while to learn.

Am going to try and make a recording of the CSM minutes from Iceland this week. But with the little ones out on Sping Break, I am not sure when I can get the time.

Holy bannanas!!!  I was just checking to make sure of the name on podbean and I have 7 subscribers. That's insane. If anyone actually reads this and wants a listen I believe you can go to res0jtz7.podbean.com. Or iTunes - Reading of Eve-Online dev blog

I love to mine

I have always wondered if there is anyone at CCP that loves to mine.

Over the past year since I have installed capsuleer and started listening to almost every podcast I can. There seems to be a common thread that everyone I have read/hear beilieves. The 2 worse things in the game are people who use macros. And people who mine.

So let me be perfectly clear : I love to mine.

There are a few reasons behind this.
1) Probably the most important reason is relaxation. I can set a mining operation in front of me and watch Tv, talk to my wife, or just relax.

2) I can do chores. This is important to me.  There are things that need to get done while working around the house. Cleaning, laundry, mopping etc..  All I need to do is check on the cargo hold.

3) My wife enjoys the head-rubbings. When it's bed time I can throw a History/Science channel on the TV and start a mining operation. Then I just give her a gentle massage to put her to sleep.

Now my wife agrees with the majority of people. She has made a few comments about the boringness of the game while watching me crunch rocks. I just smile. I see the other side.

I will not mine this way in "dangerous" areas. But I have been doing this for 1 month shy of 4 years. I find a quiet place ( less then 15 people ) in high sec (0.8) with about 4 jumps from low-sec.

This is not to say that it is safe. Just unlikely. There was a minor incident a few months back while I was in my Hulk. Nothing to exciting, but while mining a yellow security warped to my point and stayed there for a few minutes. I went ahead and deployed tech 2 drones and turned on my invulnerable field. I have no illusion of surviving. My only hope was to delay long enough for Concord. In a few minutes he warped off.  Always wondered if my having a 3.5 year old character made him pause. Guess I will never know.

This blog was created becuase I went on a minor mining op yesterday. My wife and I had a  date. But there was about an hour or so before the baby sitter showed up. While she was playing with grandkids, I had a few minutes to kill.

Now for the past month I have been using my extra time to run missions in Star Trek Online. That game requires me to repeatably hit the space bar to fire. So yesterday I decided to get a mining op going to top off my need for minerals to make my 20 bombs. It was so nice to not have to be constantly working the controls. Instead I could get up and help out where needed.

Cardassians love grinding

Made Captain rank 2 last night. STO / Klingon pve is all about the grind.

When starting out against the Federation they are +3s and are pretty doable. You get to grind your way up to  Lt Commander 7 before you swing to the next group. Romulans. They also are +3 to start out with.

13 levels later you get what seems the final grind with Cardassians. +5s to start out with. And those 2 extra levels are a killer. I have just now gotten to the level that is the beginning of the other two levels.

My problem now is my waning desire to grind another 9 levels to get my carrier. But with a life time subscription I know I will.

My goal is 1 set of the 3 required to finish a quest, per day. It takes me about an hour.

Overall STO has not really been anything but an active grind. Cryptic promises story to klingons, but truelly thier focus is for the Fed players.

Doh! Still need a skill

Still working on getting to providence. I will have bomb deployment to 2 by Tonight. Not great, but it will get me by.

I also realized last night that my 2 clones are locked up. 1 is tied up with my carrier at a low sec station. And the other one is 45 jumps away in Solitude region. My friends hang out there so if I ever wanted to visit them, it would be best to leave it there. So that means I need to bump the clone skill to 3. Which finishes Sunday.

In the summer of last year the Podded podcast guys were all ablaze over stealth bombers. And I caught a little of their fire. Enough to buy a stealth bomber and get a concussion bomb BPO. Then the fire faded.

So now I have a material researched 30 bomb BPO and can fly a manticore.  But no bombs. I am gathering materials this weekend and hope to fly to Provi by next weekend.

I took a momment to look over DOTlan maps last night. And see where I might make an impact. Well impact is overlly stating my ability by about 1000. But there are some places that it looks like CVA is surrounded and I might get a bomb on target.

Nothing to see... move along

When dev blogs started posting for Dominion in late summer/fall, one very little tid bit of information was that the inject skill would only work if you had less then 24 hours of skill in the queue.

This cause a few comments in posts, but mostly there were bigger fish to fry.

So fast forward to today. I am looking at going to Providence to fight the fight for carebears everywhere. After talking to Kirith Kodachi (congrats on the little one) I figure I would choose a Stealth Bomber. And since I know no one down there plus I am going to fight the monoliths AAA and U'K. Well stealth seems like the best idea.

But a little hitch, I never got bomb development. So I purchased the skill today and my current skill ended in 1 day 2 hours... for the fun of it I tried to inject the skill. And low and behold it worked like a charm. I havent heard of a reversal of the CCP decision. So I am thinking that CCP decided it was a really bad idea.

or so I hope...

Who are you?

 Who am I?

I live in Texas, USA. Late 30s with a wife and a cushy job.

As for my gaming life. D&D came around in my early teens and I started playing. There would be dry spells where I could not find someone to play but that's the way the game works.

One day 2 friends were talking about an online game. You had to pay every month to play, so I wasn't intreseted in that. At that time I was painting miniatures for Warhammer fantasy and Battletech. But we were on a project for about 6 weeks. 6 weeks of stories and adventures, and I was in a dry spell. So I started asking questions. 3 days later I was playing Everquest. For 5 years. I still have good ideas from that time. But there were a couple of points of contention.

So while surfing Alhakazam.com I saw a new tab for City of Heroes. So I got in at beta. 3.5 years there.

After the first year of CoH I was talking to an online friend about hunters from WoW. So like everyone else I played World of Warcraft. My account expires in 2 weeks with no plans to renew right now.

In '06 I was surfing for a new game on wikipedia - weird I know. But I saw Eve online there and read the article involving the Guiding Hand Social Club hiest on it. 3 days later I knew I would either die or CCP would fold before I stopped my account. That was in the middle of Red Moon Rising. No titans existed in game and I believe no motherships. Not 100% on the Moms.

I have bought the life time subscription to Star Trek Online and have played a Klingon from the momment I could jam through the Fed side. Currently at Captain 1. Will make C2 next couple of days. Not one PvP kill.

So if any fool actually reads this. I just wanted to give an idea of who I am.

Be safe and have a great weekend
